SR 22 Insurance

What Is SR-22 Insurance?

Who Needs SR-22 Insurance?

What If I Don’t Own A Car?

How Long Do I Need To Maintain SR-22 Insurance?

SR 22 is often required as a condition of reinstating a suspended driver’s license. SR 22 Insurance, or an SR 22 filing is a form of insurance which involves verification (an SR-22 affidavit) from an insurance company to the Driver’s License Bureau indicating at least minimum liability coverage for the person filing the SR22 policy.

The policy must be maintained for a particular period of time as required by the Missouri and Kansas Driver’s License authorities.  If the policy lapses, the state is notified. This will cause an individual’s driving privileges to become re-suspended.

If your license is suspended by the Missouri or Kansas Department of Revenue, you will likely need SR 22 Insurance to get your license reinstated. Reasons for suspension can include unpaid traffic tickets, too many moving violations on your driving record, DUI, DWI, an uninsured auto accident, or failure to comply with other laws or regulations.

If you do not own a motor vehicle, you may need to purchase “non-owner’s” liability coverage. This type of coverage allows you to have a certain level of liability protection when operating a vehicle which belongs to someone else. If you are not the registered owner of any vehicle, then a non-owner’s SR 22 policy can fulfill your insurance requirement.

The SR 22 filing period varies based on the offense and the state jurisdiction. A typical filing period is between one and three years. At Traffic Law Central, we help drivers get their licenses reinstated everyday! Contact us for your FREE, Confidential Consultation, or get your FREE Quote  now!
