Solicitation

An Arrest Is NOT A Conviction

Solicitation, prostitution, or attempting to patronize a prostitute, is a criminal offense in Missouri and Kansas and is aggressively prosecuted.

This charge often originates from undercover police sting operations in which a police decoy assumes the identity  of a prostitute. These sting operations are routinely operated throughout the Kansas City Metro Area and many people who have never been charged with anything suddenly find themselves confronting a serious criminal offense.

In most Solicitation cases, as soon as some form of verbal offer is accepted, or agreement is made, for the exchange of money for sexual activities, an individual will likely find that they have been arrested and charged for Solicitation.

In many cases, the individual arrested may feel that they have been entrapped or that they did not intend to exchange money for sex..

Possible Penalties

A charge of Solicitation can present serious penalties and consequences. Conviction for this offense can lead to mandatory jail time, probation, fines, community service, HIV/AIDS testing, court-ordered counseling, possible loss of employment, public humiliation, as well as immigration consequences. Unfortunately, even many first-time offenders can face some or all of these penalties. Penalties can also vary based upon which particular jurisdiction is prosecuting the offense.
